The Scholarships for Previous MHS Graduates

Altrusa Scholarship: Deadline March 16, 2023

Applications must have an high school diploma or HSE certificate. Must be Audrain Co. resident. Non-traditional Students are highly encouraged and will receive preference. Go to the bottom of this page for detailed instruction, application and mailing information.

Audrain County Cattlemen: Deadline March 15th

WHO IS ELIGIBLE: Applicant must be a resident of Audrain or an adjoining county and be sponsored by an Audrain County Cattlemen's Member .BASIS FOR SELECTION: 1) applicant must be a high school senior or a full-time college student and have a GPA of 2.5 or better; 2) preference may be given to students who plan on or are attending Missouri colleges and universities with their area of study in the field of agriculture and food production; 3) applicant must demonstrate leadership potential through extracurricular activities and work experiences; 5) applicant must demonstrate a need for financial services.

Audrain County Law/Fire: Deadline March 15th

WHO IS ELIGIBLE: Any Audrain County graduate who is pursuing a career in criminal justice or fire protection with preference given to cadets of either department first, then to children of employees in either department. BASIS FOR SELECTION: 1) meet entrance requirements to an accredited college; 2) possess and maintain an acceptable level of achievement; 3) actively participate in school and community organizations and events; 4) rank in the upper 50% of class; 5) show financial need; 6) be a good citizen possessing good moral character; 7) be a resident of Audrain County; 8) must pursue a major field of study in Criminal Justice or Fire Protection. SELECTION COMMITTEE AND/OR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The Scholarship Committee gives preference to a student who is a member of the cadet program offered by the Audrain County Sheriff's Office and/or the Little Dixie Fire Protection District. Employee's children will be considered for the scholarship even if they did not pursue Criminal Justice or Fire Protection schooling if no other applicants in those fields apply. Creasey Scholarship: Deadline March 15th (Ferris on same application)

 BASIS FOR SELECTION: 1) recipient must attend a college or university within the State of Missouri; 2) recipient must maintain grades of average or above; 3) recipient must conduct himself or herself in accordance with the rules of the school.
College students must mail to high school, do not submit to Committee.  Go to the bottom of this page for the application.  

Griffin Family Scholarship: Deadline March 15th

William A. Haas Journalism Scholarship: Deadline March 15th


WHO IS ELIGIBLE: Mexico High School graduates possessing good citizenship and moral character who intend to further their educations on a full-time basis at an accredited university or college. BASIS FOR SELECTION: 1) MHS graduate; 2) good citizenship and moral character; 3) plan to attend an accredited university or college on a full-time basis; 4) participate in school and community organizations prior to selection for the scholarship; 5) first priority shall be given to any eligible students majoring in journalism (or music, theater and fine arts majors should there not be enough qualified applicants majoring in journalism); 6) first preference will be given to college juniors and seniors. Knights of Columbus: Deadline March 15th

WHO IS ELIGIBLE: Any prospective graduate/current post-secondary student from MHS (or other high school if they are the son or daughter of Council 3760 Knights or Columbus) who has definite plans to further his/her education and is a professing Christian. BASIS FOR SELECTION: 1) scholastic achievement; 2) financial need; 3) participation and leadership in school and community activities; 4) citizenship, moral character and educational goals; 5) application to an accredited college, university or trade school at the time of application Application at the bottom of this page.

Mexico Young Farmers: Deadline March 15th

WHO IS ELIGIBLE: Mexico FFA  or 4-H members who plan to further their education. BASIS FOR SELECTION: 1) FFA involvement; 2) GPA; 3) extra-curricular involvement; 4) An essay less than 1 -1/2 pages on one of the following topics: "Why are you a good candidate for this scholarship?" or "How has your experience with 4-H or FFA influenced you?" Ralph Roth: Deadline March 15th

Ralph Raymond Roth was a native Audrain County farmer who lived northeast of Mexico. He was a bachelor and he farmed a 580-acre farm north of Worchester. He died in December 2006 at the age of 91. Although he never attended high school, he valued education and on his death created a scholarship for graduates of Mexico High School. Sponsored by Ralph R. Roth Scholarship, c/o Dan K. WHO IS ELIGIBLE: Current MHS senior or previous graduate of MHS already enrolled in college/university/technical or trade school who will continue his/her education endeavors in a college, university, technical or trade school. Preference is to be given to qualifying students who wish to pursue an agricultural or horticultural or agronomy college or university degree. BASIS FOR SELECTION: 1) MHS seniors must be in the upper 50% of the graduating class; 2) current post-secondary students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5; 3) must possess good citizenship qualities and be of high moral character; 4) should have actively participated in school and community organizations/events; 5) other factors include ACT/SAT scores, curriculum, financial need and future course of study.
